Update on the Recall Preview Feature for Copilot+ PCs
Microsoft has introduced the Recall feature for Copilot+ PCs, offering a new way to instantly find previously viewed content on your device. Recall creates a visual timeline by periodically capturing encrypted snapshots of your screen. These images are analyzed locally using AI to help you retrace your steps and find specific information from apps, websites, and documents.
To enhance privacy and security, Recall only activates if users opt-in and requires Windows Hello for authentication. Additional layers of protection include "just in time" decryption and encrypted search indexes, ensuring that snapshots are accessible only to authenticated users.
As part of Microsoft's Secure Future Initiative, Copilot+ PCs come with advanced security features like Secured-core PCs and the Microsoft Pluton security processor, enhancing device security from chip to cloud. The integration of AI and these security measures aims to provide users with a powerful and secure computing experience.
Recall is launching in preview to gather user feedback and refine its functionality, emphasizing Microsoft's commitment to privacy, security, and user control. With its official release on June 18, Copilot+ PCs promise a blend of innovative features and robust security to empower users.
